With world-class skiing and snowboarding, the four peaks which surround the town are massive but can actually be tamed.

Peak seven, peak eight, peak nine, and peak ten are all around 13,000 feet high. Each peak can be skied if you have the tools and knowledge.

Breckenridge started out as a gold mining town. Hundreds of families and people came to Breckenridge hoping to strike it rich. After the gold boost of the 1800s people had to wait almost 60-years for the white gold otherwise known as snow. Breckenridge gets lots of snow averaging over 200-inches per year. Many of the buildings here are from the historical gold mine era. The Gold Pan bar in Breckenridge used to be a miners bar from the 1800s, it is one of the oldest bars in the state of Colorado. When you walk through the door you will realize the historical significance.

In 1859 gold was discovered along the blue river, and a base camp was set-up, later to be known as Breckenridge. Breckenridge does contain more than 350 different buildings and structures that still remain. This makes Breckenridge one of largest historic districts in Colorado. During the summer time, the locals run Gold Mine Tours which are quite exciting.

In the year 1860, Breckenridge established the first post office which finally put Breckenridge on the national map. In 1882, the railroad arrived in Breckenridge. Today, you can hike up the trail as the old railroad has been removed, the railroad was very much responsible for the growth and wealth of Breckenridge.

Breckenridge, the ski town, was not established until December 16, 1961. On opening day they had one T-bar ski lift and only one-double chair lift on peak 8. With 17,000 customers in there first year, Breckenridge certainly seemed to have a bright future. Breckenridge was the first Colorado resort to allow snowboarding way back in 1984, their acceptance with snowboarders is still there today. In 1985, Breckenridge hosted the first snowboard world-cup and every year since then, they've been hosted major winter events.

In 1997, Breckenridge and Keystone were merged with Vail and Beaver Creek to form Vail Ski Resorts. On your next winter or summer vacation, I hope you're able to make it to historical Breckenridge, Colorado where you are sure to have a good time.

Enjoy your ski vacation in Breckenridge, CO.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Scott Palat makes it easy to learn about skiing. Consider a ski vacation. Everyone loves to ski, and there are many great locations to take the family to for a good time. Take a look at these locations.

Sugarloaf, in the great state of Maine, is a ski resort sure to please your family. Located on a mountain named, appropriately, Sugarloaf Mountain, it has a grand history. In 1951 the first trail was cut by a group known as a The Bigelow Boys. It is today a premier ski area of the Northeast United States, second in elevation onto to the highest mountain in Main, Mount Katahdin. At the summit of Sugarloaf is a life to take the skier above treeline.

New Hampshire offers fine skiing at Cannon Mountain, home of the New England Ski Museum, which contains the most extensive collection of historical ski equipment, literature, film, clothing, photographs, and artwork on the East Coast. The extensive archive is renowned by scholars and historians across the U.S., and the Museum is officially recognized by the United States Ski Association as a Regional Museum, one of only four in the country, and sure to please a ski enthusiast.

On the south short of Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada, Blue Mountain prides itself on being the largest ski area in the province. The resort offers several six man chair lifts and a pedestrian village is under construction. Enjoy your visit to Blue Mountain for a fantastic and unique experience.

In upstate New York, Whiteface Mountain reigns king among ski resorts. The fifth highest mountain in New York State and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack range Whiteface Mountain offers a 360 degree view of the mountains and on a clear day a visitor can see both Vermont and Canada. Near Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain has a ski area with the greatest vertical drop in the eastern part of the country. In 1980 Whiteface hosted the alpine skiing competition of the Winter Olympics.

Aspen Mountain in Colorado is world famous for fine skiing. Still called by the old name of Ajax by the locals, Aspen is a skier's delight, as are most Colorado resorts, including Vail. Another world famous western state resort is in Park City, Utah, home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. All of the resorts listed provide great skiing.

Modern skiing evolved gradually from snow shoeing, and a Norwegian, Sondre Norheim, is thought of as the father of modern skiing. In the 1800's he invented the form of skiing he called Slalom, but which we know today as Telemark skiing. While skiing has practical transportation value in many colder climate countries, and many militaries train troops in skiing, most people think of the sport involving taking a ski lift to the top of a mountain for a fast and fun downhill ride. When engaged in this activity most people prefer to wear warm clothing and follow runs, trails or slopes—patrolled ski routes that are checked for safety. Skiers also enjoy cross country skiing, but for safety sake most stay within the boundaries of the resort. In fact, most European countries have laws against cross country skiing outside of the resort's boundaries due to the danger of avalanche and the high cost of search and rescue operations.

Skiing enthusiasts report a euphoria that comes from skiing, a feeling they liken to flying and many more people are engaged in the sport today than ever before, with many fine ski schools teaching the basics. Even if you've never skied before, the basic skills can be acquired quickly and you'll be on the slopes enjoying yourself in a way you've never experienced before. Skiing is a great way to get in good physical shape, and at the end of the day, sitting around a fireplace in the lodge, bundled up with a warm blanket, and your spouse sitting next to you, holding a cup of hot cocoa in hand for sipping. This is the perfect ending to a wonderful day, which you'll experience at any of the six great ski vacation resorts listed. So give a ski vacation a try, and be very glad you did.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

David is an experienced internet entreprenuer with over 7 years of experience. From bamboo lemongrass body scrubs to peppermint sea twists, spa treatments are more innovative than ever. Of course you can get straightforward treatments like Swedish massage but then you've got holistic treatments like Bio Energetic Transduction Aided Resonance (sound therapy) and Thalassotherapy (water therapy).

In addition to searching for a wide range of standard, as well as progressive, treatment options, our search for the best destination spas went beyond the service menu. The top-notch spas that made the cut each offer a unique spa and vacation experience. Whether you want to wash away impurities in Italy, immerse yourself in spiritual goodness at the Green Valley Spa in the Utah wilderness, unwind at a 19-th century cottage in lush Georgia countryside, or relax in a seaside villa at the Sanibel Harbour Spa, you'll find what you're looking for at one of these world-class spas.

While some may think of spas as vegetarian wastelands where strict trainers insist you load up on granola, tofu and wheat-grass juice—the stereotype is a misnomer. The Barnsley Gardens Resort & Spa in Adairsville, Georgia have a beer garden where they serve German beer, sausages and pretzels, while the Masseria San Domenico Resort & Spa serves fresh fish and shellfish from the Adriatic Coast.

Spas that made our list offer something for men and women, like the Carefree Resort & Villas in Carefree, Arizona. Their Men's Facial is specifically designed for men to help prevent or relieve razor burn, ingrown hair, and sensitivity. The treatment also includes a relaxing face, head, neck and shoulder massage (don't worry; your secret is safe with us). The Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa in Birmingham, Alabama made our list for their amazing spa services and 8,191-yard championship golf course. We also liked the The Hills Health Ranch (don't get the wrong idea guys; there's nothing wimpy about hiking in the Canadian wilderness). During the winter, The Hills is a winter ski resort with over 100 miles of community based cross-country ski trails and during the summer, guests use those same trails for hiking and biking. They also have an indoor pool two hydrotherapy pools and cardio weight training equipment.

And in case you were wondering, ever spa on our list offers the utmost in luxurious accommodations—after all, you're there to get spoiled and pampered.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Amy's passion is writing about the good things in life: food, wine, fashion, and travel. It's time for Spring Break. Hordes of families, couples, and groups of college kids seek out a week of rest and a warm beach. For others, mountains of fresh powder complimented by blue skies and sunshine have been the beckoning dream during long nights of cramming and longer days of work. They want spring break, Colorado style.

Of all the ski resorts in Colorado, Winter Park's "Spring Blast" has been ranked in the top three for spring break visitors. This is true even if you live in a place that does not ever get snowfall! These clubs regularly get together for trips to various mountains, ski areas, and ski resorts. Some are local clubs, meaning that the slopes that they ski on are within driving distance, while others are more national or global, which means that they not only ski locally, if possible, but they also plan ski trips.

Again, members of ski clubs often receive deep discounts on ski vacation packages. Arrangements are usually made through the club, so that everyone is eligible for the discounts. The money that is required from each member for the trip is usually paid to the club, and the club passes the funds on to pay for lodging, airfare, meals, lift tickets, and other perks that are included in the trip. Because arrangements are being made for a group of people – which is usually fairly large – discounts are given. This benefits all members of the club.

The discounts aren't the only thing to be excited about. These clubs get together regularly – even if they aren't getting together to ski. They join together for other activities as well, such as cookouts and fundraisers. Many ski clubs do annual fundraisers to help less fortunate families and children at Christmas time. Others do annual fundraisers to help preserve the environment – which is usually a topic of great importance to skiers who love being out in the wide open spaces and fresh air.

While skiing is what brings these groups together in the first place, it is not necessarily what keeps them together. Their love of a common sport, and their common interests and feeling of community is what keeps them together – and it keeps them skiing together for years and years. If you are a skier, you should definitely consider joining a club. It doesn't matter – in most cases – what level you are at. Beginners are usually welcomed, and this is a great way for beginners to quickly improve their skills and techniques out on the slopes.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Ski Vacations , Germany Tourism , Information on Germany
...

Red River Ski Vacations

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Red River Ski Vacations
Author: Joshua Spaulding
Top elevation at Red River is 10354 feet, and the vertical drop down the face of the mountain is 1601 feet. Unfortunately, it doesn't snow much, and about 85% of the powder is man made. There are 58 trails scattered over 247 acres. Red River is called the 'ski town of the Southwest.'

The resort has three restaurants, all of which offer fabulous fare. Lodging can be obtained in cabins, chalets, inns, or private condominiums in the area, and many lodging packages, as well as ski packages are available through Red River Central Reservations. Red River also offers snow pass rates which allow children to ski for free, and teens to ski at reduced rates. This is a great way to save money on your family ski vacation.

Red River also has a ski school, and group lessons and private lessons are available. Even if you've never skied before, you will quickly be on the slopes after your lessons. There are even lessons for snowboarders, who are welcome on the Red River slopes. You can also rent all of your ski and snowboarding equipment for very reasonable rates.

The nightlife in Red River is also great. After a day on the slopes, you can kick back and relax at the lodge, or visit one of the taverns in the area. For the younger crowd, there is a great game room located right in the center of the town. One of the great things about Red River is that everything is within walking distance of the lodging areas, and shuttles are provided for transportation to and from the slopes.

You can also enjoy taking scenic chairlift rides, hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, snow-mobiling and hunting. You can even take one of the jeep tours to go see the abandoned gold mines in the area. So, even if you don't ski, there is still plenty of fun to be had at Red River Ski Resort.

Childcare is available while you spend your day on the slopes. Your child will be well tended at the lil Buckaroos Child Care facility, and the center provides lunch for your child as well. At Red River, everything has been thought of and taken care of to ensure that your ski vacation is as enjoyable as possible.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Information on Germany , Germany Tourism , Ski Vacation
...

Planning a Family Ski Vacation

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Planning a Family Ski Vacation
Author: Joshua Spaulding
Most ski resorts have websites. Start the planning process by accessing these websites to determine where you and your family might want to go for your family ski vacation. There are many different things to look for when choosing a resort. The absolute most Important thing to look for is a ski school if someone in your family will need instruction. While most resorts do have ski schools, some don't. Don't make the mistake of choosing a destination where one or more of your family members won't have fun, simply because they don't know how to ski.

Next, take a look at the slopes, lifts, and trails. You want to make sure that the resort has something to offer everyone in your family. If the resort only caters to beginners, an expert skier will become quickly bored. If you have a snowboarder in your group, and there is no snowboarding park or terrain, that snowboarder will not be happy. There are resorts that serve all winter sports – so make sure that your families interests are covered.

Lodging is the next thing to look at. You want to be comfortable, so where you will sleep at night matters a great deal. In most cases, there is a hotel right at the base of the slopes – but this isn't necessarily the best or most affordable place to stay. Find out what your lodging options are for the area, and choose the one that is right for your family and your budget. If you will be staying farther away from the slopes, make sure that there is transportation to and from the slopes each day!

Your family will have many more interests that you will need to search for before deciding on a particular destination and resort. Some of those interests may be dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or horseback riding. Resorts do offer these activities, but some don't – so be sure to ask about the winter activities, as well as the planned events during the time that you will be at the resort. This will help you plan a ski vacation that your family will enjoy and remember for the rest of their lives.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Ski Vacations , Information on Germany , Germany Tourism
...

Packard Realty offers affordable Lake Tahoe Lodgin

Packard Realty offers affordable Lake Tahoe Lodging located within easy access of 7 incredible ski

 Ski Resorts
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Packard Realty offers affordable Lake Tahoe Lodging located within easy access of 7 incredible ski
Author: Stefanie Galloway
Skier's and Snowboarder's Mecca

Looking for "the" skier's and snowboarder's wintertime Mecca? This technology is used by national government agencies, airlines, chambers of commerce, ski resorts, and countless corporations to make information accessible and interactive to whomever they present the information.
Phone and credit card companies use interactive mapping to show billing information. Companies use it in reporting, forecasting, sales and marketing, and display retirement plan information to its employees, using Dashboard, PopChart, Optimap, and Highwire features for interactive and simple information presentation and utilization, even on a pocket PC.

What can Interactive Mapping Do for You?

Interactive mapping involves so much more that just maps. Dashboard, Popchart, Optimap, and Highwire provide interactive information in virtually any format: charts, graphs, pie charts, tables, etc.
In addition to the examples given above, here are additional ways to use interactive mapping.
Retail stores can track revenue, returns, and customer information across geographical demographics.
Manufacturers can track processing times along the supply chain.
Electric companies can track overall usage in geographic regions.
The CIA World Factbook collects and presents geographical, population, and even cell phone usage across the world with interactive mapping.
Airlines track cancellations, fares, purchases, flight loading, and seating.
Land developers find geographical survey of longitudes and latitudes for cities anywhere in the United States.
Businesses track receivables, payables, inventory, and sales.
Companies break down sales reports according to product.
Corporations publish stock reports.
Marketing statistical personnel create charts and graphs, using functions.
Doctors find cancer rates across the United States.
Consumers track orders and receipts.
Students view documents like the US Constitution, connecting to notes, comments, and references embedded in the text.

Is Interactive Mapping Technology Compatible with Other Technology?

Yes. Interactive mapping has found a way to work hand in hand with technologies companies already use. Interactive mapping is also adaptable to PDF. Some examples of technologies with which interactive mapping tools can interface include HTML, FLASH, EMF, WAR, and XML.
Business, government, and educational reports and informational presentations are constantly being created and published with a variety of technologies and applications already available on the market. Documents created with the same applications can be teamed up with interactive mapping tools to create a simple display of information with which companies and consumers alike can interact. When the Romans colonized the southern part of Iberia, they built their own city there, calling it Illibris. The Arabs, invading the Peninsula in the eighth century, gave the city its current name of Granada.

Being the last Muslim city of Spain to be reconquered by the Christians, Granada has an unmistakable Arab flavor, and Moorish and Christian elements go hand-in-hand.

One of the most brilliant jewels of Granada is the Alhambra, a series of palaces and gardens built under the Nazari Dynasty in the fourteenth century. This mighty compound of buildings, including the summer palace called Generalife with its beautiful fountains and gardens, stands at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.

The hill facing the Alhambra is the old Moorish casbah or medina called the Albaicín. One of the oldest districts, it has been declared a World Heritage Site, along with the Alhambra and Generalife.

The Plaza de San Nicolas, at the highest point of the Albaicín, is famous for its magnificent view of the Moorish Palace.

Sacromonte Hill, which overlooks the city from the north, is famous for its cave dwellings, once home to a large gypsy community. Here, you can find some of the best flamenco shows in Andalucia.

Perhaps the most important Christian monument of Granada is the Cathedral. Built in 1523, Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand are buried there in the Royal Chapel.

Among museums well-worth visiting are the Art Museum in the Palacio de Carlos V at the Alhambra, the Alhambra Museum, the Cathedral Museum, the Archaeological Museum and the Science Museum.

If the children become a little bored with sightseeing, they will just love the activities available in the nearby Sierra Nevada ski resort or the beautiful beaches not too far away. And so will you!

So ... come visit Granada and have the time of your lives!

Linda Plummer is webmistress of http://www.top-tour-of-spain.com " http://www.top-tour-of-spain.com http://www.top-tour-of-spain.com " Top Tour of Spain providing information on Spain be it for travel, food, language or living.
...

Downhill Skiing -- 5 Ways to Save Money

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Downhill Skiing -- 5 Ways to Save Money
Author: Jim Safianuk

Isn't it time you saved more of your hard earned money when you go downhill skiing? You know the slopes, now you just have to learn the ropes. The key is to avoid the normal flow so you can save money and ski more often. Expert skiing requires an increase in mileage on the slopes, so if you want to ski every weekend or every other weekend, it's to your advantage to get the most out of your skiing dollar.
Buy Last Year's Skis
If at all possible, buy your ski equipment and clothes in the fall or spring. The best months in the autumn are October and November, while the best months in the spring are March and April. Never buy in mid-season!

Some of the gear that didn't sell in the winter or spring is returned to the shelves in the fall. Although you may not always get the best selection, you will definitely get a good discount. Perhaps even as low as the wholesale price. They need to clear this stock out to make room for the new equipment and clothes.

In terms of skis, most ski shops will have a few pair of high-end skis left over from the previous year, but you need to get to the ski shop in late October or early November before they're sold out. Forget the demos, go for last year's skis, which are brand new.

In addition, forget about sporting goods stores, since they only deal with middle of the road recreational skis. For expert skiing, you need an all-terrain ski or the closest thing to it. Remember, most ski shops only have a limited number of these skis on hand at any given time.
Select Neutral Colors and Good Quality Clothes
In terms of clothing, buy ski jackets and pants in neutral colors like red, black, and blue. These colors will stand the test of time. Although they are not the fanciest, you don't need to be fancy to ski in the expert zones.

Besides, colorful clothes are usually more expensive and tend to be trendy. You know, avant-garde one year, and pushed to the back of the closest the next year. You don't want to blow your ski budget on new jackets and pants every year, just to fit in.

In addition, buy good quality. This will ensure that you get a longer life out of your jacket, pants, and gloves. This means you save big time over the long haul.

Consider buying your clothes, like your skis and boots, in the spring or fall, not during the ski season when the prices are at their highest. If you have a ski show in your area, it will usually be in October or November. Attend the show on the last or second last day. You'll usually find great bargains on ski jackets and gloves.
Replace One Item Each Year
A rule of thumb that some expert skiers follow is to replace one item of clothing or equipment each year. If you purchased good quality gear in the first place, you may find that this simple rule will work for you as well. The idea is to get the longest life possible from your clothes and equipment and to wear everything out before you replace it. You also don't normally need to be two or three deep in anything.

As an aspiring expert skier, you want to free up as much of your hard earned dollar as possible to pay for lift tickets, which means more mileage on the slopes.
Ski During the Week
If you can get away, there is money to be saved by skiing during the week, Monday to Friday. The weekday rates for lift tickets are reduced at ski resorts, although not as much as we would like to see. However, you can also opt for a half-day ticket, which affords an additional savings. This may be the way to go if you are out just for the day, and want to practice a new technique or tactic from one of the ski lessons for a couple of hours.

In addition, during the week the crowds are down and lift lines are almost non-existent. This means a lot more runs and mileage for the price of your lift ticket, when compared to weekend skiing. Besides, when you are out skiing moguls, trees, and steeps, sometimes you don't want an audience, especially if you are experimenting with a new technique or maneuver.
Brown Bag It
Bring your own food and save on your eating expenses. You can spend upwards of $8 - $10 for a full lunch at most ski resorts. By brown bagging it, and supplementing with a bowl of soup or chowder, you can easily get away with spending just $4 for a complete meal, depending on what you bring in the bag. For a twenty-five day ski season, the savings can be appreciable.

Moreover, ski resorts serve cafeteria style food, which you are probably aware of, can be quite bad. A hamburger, fries, and a coke, just isn't going to cut it if you are going back into the expert zones in the afternoon. Keep the soup or chowder, but jettison the rest. By bringing your own lunch, you'll be saving money, getting the right nourishment, and supplying your body with the energy you need to ski until the lifts close.
About the Author
Jim Safianuk is a certified ski instructor and writer of the downhill skiing lessons in the course Skills of the Expert Skier. Sales of second homes also have ratcheted up dramatically as vacationers and investors look to snap up these properties amid the lure of low mortgage rates and rapidly increasing home values.

According to a study conducted by the National Association of Realtors, 2.82 million vacation home purchases were made in 2004, up 16 percent from the previous year.

With the rising demand, prices also escalated; the price of a typical vacation home increased 21 percent from 2003 to 2004, about twice the rate of appreciation for the overall home market.

In addition to vacation homes, sales in the second-home market were bolstered significantly by those searching for steadily appreciating investments. Nearly 25 percent of all homes purchased in 2004 were done so for investment purposes - a 14 percent increase from 2003.

Against this backdrop, real estate firms are recognizing the importance of understanding and servicing this influential group of homebuyers.

"Second-home buyers represent a vital and growing part of the overall market," said Brenda Casserly, president and chief operating officer of ERA Real Estate. "These discerning buyers have extremely specific and often widely varying needs, and real estate firms looking to lead in this segment must continue to provide these consumers with an efficient mix of one-on-one and Web-based services and resources."

ERA Real Estate has been an industry leader in this area with its established Resort Properties International program. The program features a team of trained resort experts who can instantly access key resources from around the world and provide specialized information on second-home properties across all price levels and comfort needs.

ERA Real Estate also recently launched Resorts.ERA.com, a Web site designed specifically to meet the needs of second-home buyers. Visitors to the site can search for properties categorized by state or other criteria, such as waterfront locations, ski resorts and golf club communities.

Through the site, consumers can connect with sales associates who specialize in the resort and second-home market, and access links to state and local resources as well as market trends.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

For more information, visit resorts.era.com . - NU
...

Bulgaria the place to be and the place to buy

Bulgaria – the place to be and the place to buy…

 Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Bulgaria – the place to be and the place to buy…
Author: AdrianM
Identified some three years ago by the New York Times as a sleeping beauty about to rouse herself, Bulgaria is now very much awake to her potential. With an economic climate attracting property investment from all corners of the world, a dynamic tourist industry set to soon rival that of Spain and a structural development programme on-track for full EU membership in 2007, the Bulgarian success story is evolving daily. Blend all of that with a rich and mysterious cultural heritage, a wealth and diversity of nature that simply takes the breath away and a rural tranquility hard to find anywhere else in Europe and you have a sense of what makes Bulgaria such an extremely attractive Balkan Beauty.

The past few months have seen a flood of media coverage with a focus upon the property bargains to be found in the towns and cities of Bulgaria, in rural and village homes, in the ski resorts and in beach-front apartments on the Black Sea. The collective message is that Bulgaria is the place to be and the place to buy ...

And it's all true. Bulgaria does offer genuine property opportunities. The tourist industry is bringing in some 4 million visitors a year. Property developers are following rapidly in their wake and real estate agents across Europe now boast Bulgaria as a key destination in their portfolios.

There are thousands of properties and houses for sale in Bulgaria today and, even if you think that you may have missed the property boat in other countries, you'll find that there are still plenty of tickets available. Holiday properties, investment opportunities and rural and village homes top the property buyers' list of priorities - but demand is high and prices are rising so if you are considering a property purchase in Bulgaria we recommend that you start your information gathering and decision making now.

About the Author

Article written by - ...

Budget Travel To Any Summer Ski Resort

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Budget Travel To Any Summer Ski Resort
Author: Jonny Goldmann -
When most people think of ski resorts, they naturally picture mountains full of fresh fallen snow and people huddled around a roaring fire enjoying a cup of hot cocoa. While this image is certainly accurate, and ski resorts are some of the most popular of all vacation destinations, the prices of these resort getaways can often be beyond the means of the budget traveler.

There is another way, however, to enjoy these upscale resorts for a fraction of their in season costs. Many ski resort locations stay open all year round, and the prices of lodging, meals and local entertainment often drops precipitously after winter has passed.

Visiting a ski resort in the middle of the summer does not mean there will be nothing to do. In fact, many people prefer visiting these resorts in the off season, since their mountain locations provides for a comfortable, activity packed getaway.

For instance, most ski resorts have ample hiking trails through beautiful mountain vistas. All those great cross country ski trails become wonderful hiking and biking trails after the snow has melted, and the scenery can be even more spectacular, and more comfortable, without the cold and snow of winter.

Besides hiking and biking, there are a great many other activities to be offered as well, including horseback riding, fishing swimming, and other outdoor activities. In addition, many ski resorts use their ski lifts as fun summer sky rides, and open their slopes to such summertime activities as tobogganing down the side of the mountain. The kids in particular love these fun rides.

Another great thing about visiting a ski resort area in summer is that the mountain location often means cooler temperatures. Even when the lowland temperature is stiflingly hot, the temperature in the mountains can be refreshingly cool and comfortable. Of course, it is important to check the monthly weather for your destination and to avoid the rainy season

There are ski resorts in many states around the country, and the northeastern and western parts of the country have a great wealth of these resorts. While many of them stay open year round and offer a host of off season activities, not all do, so it is important to verify the summer activities of the resort you are considering.

It is also a good idea to research the activities that are offered by each resort. With the concentration of ski resorts in some areas of the country, it will be easy to compare the various offerings and choose the one that best suits your individuals needs.

It is also important to research the surrounding area and see what else there is to do when you are not at the resort. While many ski resorts have plenty of activities to keep you busy for days, you will probably want to venture off the property at least a few times.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Choosing a ski resort located near a busy, but not expensive, metropolitan area is a great way to enjoy your budget vacation. This area in the French Alps has become so popular with foreign visitors that you'll be hard pushed to find a bar or shop where the locals don't speak English.

The ski area is first class, as are the facilities away from the slopes. Of course, it's sheer popularity may put some holiday-makers off. If you're looking for a quiet week away then Val D'Isere may not be right for you.

St Anton in Austria is less well-known but also has a wonderful ski area. So great, in fact, that it recently hosted the World Championships. This provides a great platform for both skiing and snowboarding.

The Zermatt resort in Switzerland is another contender for the title of the best ski resort in Europe. It benefits from fine Alpine scenery, matching the sort of scenes that you might expect if you've ever seen any film footage of Switzerland.

Set in the centre of Europe, Switzerland is of course highly accessible for Europeans, but has recently been proving very popular with tourists from all over the world.

Many people are put off Switzerland and Austria because they believe that prices can be prohibitive. Whilst it's certainly true that both countries have some very expensive resorts, such complaints can be applied to many European ski resorts. Equally, if you shop around you can still find some bargains in terms of both travelling to your chosen destination and making the most of your stay there.

There are plenty of great articles available online reviewing and describing the many European ski resorts, but this will hopefully have given you a taster of the finest resorts around.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Keith Barrett writes regularly about holidays and travel for Whatever the Weather .
...

Beautiful Vancouver City of the Sea Mountains

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
Beautiful Vancouver, City of the Sea & Mountains
Author: Clint Leung2
As one flies over Vancouver during the decent into the Canadian city's airport, the surrounding beautiful natural scenery is already noticed with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. Once inside the baggage claim area of the international airport, visitors are greeted with large Pacific Northwest Coast Indian art carvings. This adds to the overall flavor of nature and the environment that makes Vancouver so different from other major cities. When driving along Granville Street towards the city center, one can't help but notice that the trees and hedges in the residential areas are so much larger and taller than the ones we normally see elsewhere. One of the locals claims that the superior growth of the area's plant life is due to the huge amount of rainfall. Vancouver is close to both the ocean and the mountain range so lots of rain is expected. In fact, the rain here can actually be a problem as grey skies, especially during the winter months, are one of the few negatives of living in Vancouver. Fortunately, there is very little snowfall within the city so for Vancouverites, it is a trade off of some sort to have to deal with rain rather than shoveling snow during their winters. As for tourists, the best time to visit Vancouver is the least wet season which is during the summer months. I've been told by another local that September is one of the best months to visit. When the sun is shining in Vancouver with both the ocean and mountains as the background, it really doesn't get any better.
Stanley Park on the west side of downtown Vancouver is the most visited attraction. A drive around the island will reveal great photo spots of both the city and the ocean. Vancouver's Aquarium is also on site in Stanley Park as well as a magnificent collection of Pacific Northwest Coastal Indian art totem poles. Of course, one can always marvel at the tall trees which seem to touch the skies here. The Lion's Gate Suspension Bridge connects Stanley Park with North Vancouver on the other side of the harbor. On the north side is Grouse Mountain, the area's closest ski resort to the city that has turned into an all year round attraction. During the non-winter months, one can take the gondola up Grouse mountain for some wonderful hiking and views of the Vancouver skyline. The Capilano Suspension Bridge which visitors walk across to a nice nature area is another must see nearby. One of the cuisine highlights in the British Columbia province is the salmon and one of the best restaurants to sample it is the Salmon House in adjacent West Vancouver. Dinner there with the Pacific Northwest Coast Indian art décor and spectacular nighttime views of the city is one of the best ways to finish off a day of sightseeing.
Back in downtown Vancouver, the Gastown district is one of the top tourist areas for boutique shopping and souvenirs. Don't miss the steam clock that rings on the hour. Vancouver has one of the largest Asian communities in North America so the Chinatown nearby as expected has some of the best dim sum luncheons outside of Hong Kong. Further boutique shopping can be found in the Yaletown and Granville Island districts.
If time permits, one of the recommended day trips to do out of Vancouver is to drive up the Sea & Sky highway to Whistler, one of North America's largest ski resorts. During the off ski season, Whistler is all season resort with many activities such as hiking, biking, festivities and shopping in the village. A ride up the gondola here will enable visitors to get a bird's eye view of the majestic Canadian Rockies mountain range. The drive itself to Whistler, about two and a half hours along the coastline, offers many wonderful scenic points as well.
Vancouver is a great city to visit as one can really see how a major city can still be in very scenic surroundings. For those coming to Vancouver as the departure port of a cruise to either Hawaii or Alaska, it is highly recommended to allocate at least a full day before or after the cruise to see what the city has to offer. As I mentioned before, on a sunny day with the sea on one side and the mountains on the other, Vancouver is really hard to beat.
Clint Leung is owner of Free Spirit Gallery http://www.FreeSpiritGallery.ca , an online gallery specializing in Inuit Eskimo and Northwest Native American art including carvings, sculpture and prints. Restored historic buildings in the town of Aspen and ghost towns in Ashcroft and Independence provide a glimpse into the area's mining past. The Roaring Fork and Fryingpan Rivers make for some great trout fishing spots. Independence Pass, Castle Creek Road to Ashcroft, and Maroon Creek Road are splendid scenic routes. Some of the other attractions, albeit not of the natural kind, include the Wheeler Opera House, Hotel Jerome, and Ski Lift #1.
Aspen is located in west-central Colorado, forty miles southeast of Glenwood Springs on Colorado Highway 82. This highway is the only access into Aspen during winter. During summer, you can reach Aspen through Independence Pass on Highway 82. Independence Pass is closed from early November through May.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Aspen Colorado provides detailed information on Aspen, Aspen Colorado, Aspen Hotels, Aspen Vacation Rentals and more. Andorra's capital la Vella is full of duty free shops, restaurants, clubs and bars. Soaring through the snow on some kind of seat or board is nothing new. The ways to enjoy the snow are numerous, and people have devised ways to turn garbage can lids and cardboard into "snow boards" to enjoy an afternoon frolic outdoors. The various ways to glide through snow have become more sophisticated and have evolved into using polished boards or skis in much the same manner as a surfboarder would ride a wave.

There have been many attempts at developing a modern snowboard. In 1965, the "Snurfer" (a word play on 'snow' and 'surfer') was developed as a child's toy. Two skis were bound together and a rope was placed at the front end to afford control and stability. Over 500,000 "Snurfers" were sold in 1966 but they were never seen as more than a child's plaything even though organized competitions began to take place. The year 1969 brought a slightly more sophisticated snowboard based on the principles of skiing combined with surfboard styling.

The "Flying Yellow Banana" was developed in 1977. This was nothing more than a plastic shell covered with a top surface like that of a skateboard, but at the time it was considered a major advance in the little known sport of snowboarding. The first national snowboard race was held in the area outside Woodstock and was known as "The Suicide Six." The race consisted of a steep downhill run called The Face in which the main goal was probably mere survival.

Snowboarding continued to increase in popularity over the next several years. In 1985 the first magazine dedicated specifically to snowboarding hit the news stands with huge success and furthered the popularity of this exciting sport. Hoards of fans began to organize regional events and pretty soon snowboarding events were held in all parts of the world. In the year 1994 snowboarding was finally declared an Olympic event, much to the delight of fans. The not-so-new sport of snowboarding was finally recognized and meant a huge victory for serious snowboarders across the globe.

A collection of snowboarding tricks and stunts was released on video in 1996. Filmed in Alaska, the breathtaking beauty and captivating snowboarding techniques featured in the video exposed snowboarding to a new generation, and by 1998 snowboarding constituted almost 50% of all winter activity. Today, nearly all ski resorts accept snowboarders. There are still a few holding on to the past but this is unlikely to continue as the number of snowboarders continually increases.

From the first crudely built snowboards to the advanced and specialized models available today, snowboarders have carried a "bad boy" image. This rebel reputation is still common today in spite of the fact that snowboarding appeals to men, women, and children of all nationalities and social groups. At most major ski resorts you can find snowboarding gear, information, and lessons. Olympic and world wide snowboarding events are among the most popular of winter sports and the competition to be the best is fierce.

Retailers nation wide and around the world carry many types of snowboards, and the choice in specially made snowboarding gear is immense. Snowboarders have participated in the X Games and even charity events such as Boarding for Breast Cancer. From its early meager beginnings snowboarding has progressed into a fully recognized sport, and large numbers of people are turning to snowboarding for adventure, fun, and professional recognition.

Keith Kingston is a professional web publisher offering information on snowboards, skiing, ski vacations, snow removal and http://www.all-4-snow.com/ " snowmobiles for sale
...

A Guide to Your Ideal Ski Resort and Vacation

Ski Resort
Back To Snippet
Back To SITEMAP
A Guide to Your Ideal Ski Resort and Vacation
Author: Larry Denton
Few things in life are better than an adventurous and exciting vacation. Especially a ski vacation. Whether it's a family outing, a romantic get-away with your special someone, or you are going solo in search of snow and fun in the sun, this site can assist you in determining which destination is right for you. First decision--a ski resort in the United States or a trip to a more exotic foreign destination--perhaps the majestic and scenic Alps? If you decide on an North American ski vacation, your next decision might be choosing which geographic region of the United States most beckons you.

Thanks to the presence of the Rocky Mountains, the Sierra Nevadas, and the Cascades, the western portions of the United States feature breathtaking scenery in addition to fantastic skiing conditions. With 12,000 foot peaks, azure blue skies and hundreds of inches of snow it doesn't get much better. Do you want to blast down the ruggedly beautiful mountains of Montana through waist-deep, dry powder the natives call "white smoke"?

Maybe skiing with the rich and famous is more your style--if so try Aspen, Colorado, known for its majestic four mountains. Mammoth Mountain, Vail, Jackson Hole, Steamboat Springs, Taos, Snowbird, the hundreds of runs and resorts of Utah, Washington, California, and Idaho. Simply too many to list!

Just north of the 49th parallel (the Canadian border) lie some of the world's best skiing options featuring the top ski resort destinations. Banff/Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, located in the heart of Canada's Banff National Park, ranks as one of the most scenic mountain resorts in North America, if not the entire world.

And Whistler/Blackcomb in British Columbia with 8,000 skiable acres and its 100+ bars and restaurants in the village is definitely a "must do" destination. These magnificent mountain peaks provide gorgeous scenery, abundant snowfall, pristine wildlife areas, and the steepest vertical drop in North America. The Japanese have repeatedly ranked it as their favorite international destination.

One valuable tip for planning a ski vacation--get all of your necessary items in a single package or as some travel agents refer to it--"bundling." In simple terms it means to get your airline tickets, hotel accommodations, car rental, lift tickets all from a single source at the same time. Some agencies will even make arrangements for off-slope activities that you are interested in. These inclusive packages make vacationing easy, affordable, convenient and fun. Use online searches to find the best resorts, the most affordable prices and the best travel companies.

A ski vacation can provide you and your family the perfect break during the long, dark winter months, and allow you to experience some quality bonding time. Picture your family conquering the slopes, making snow angels, riding snowmobiles or soaking in the heavenly heated pool as the brilliant stars twinkle brightly overhead. You can choose from a wide array of destinations, accommodations and flight plans. No matter where you want to ski or snowboard, you will find the best deals on the Internet.

Whether you are an experienced downhill racer, a beginning snowboarder, or someone in between, you can get a mountain of free skiing information by doing some research on the Internet. Comparison shop and gain the knowledge you need to become a smart ski shopper!

About the Author

Larry Denton is a retired history teacher having taught 33 years at Hobson High in Hobson, Montana. A Colorado mountain vacation can be the adventure of a lifetime. There are many attractions in Colorado, including skiing, shopping, hiking, biking, and enjoying live entertainment.
A Colorado mountain vacation is a great trip for the whole family. Children can enjoy the outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and rafting. Families can go shopping together and eat at world-class restaurants. Attractions like Pike's Peak are designed for the whole family.
Couples looking for a good way to unwind are also advised to check out a Colorado Mountain vacation. Many lodgings are designed for couples, and feature romantic amenities like private hot tubs, candlelit dinners, and breathtaking mountain views.
Colorado includes six of Ski Magazine's top ten North American ski resorts. Skiing and snowboarding are major attractions of a Colorado mountain vacation. Some of the major ski resorts in Colorado are Vail, Snowmass, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Telluride.
Each of these resorts offers a variety of amenities, including accommodations, ski equipment rental, fine dining, and some of the greatest ski slopes on the continent. Many resorts also offer lessons to beginners, assuring that visitors do not have to be great skiers to have a good time. The slopes range in difficulty from beginner's level to extremely difficult.
Each ski lodge rates its slopes somewhat differently, but the color code system applies to most of them. A green circle signifies a beginner's slope, slopes for skiers with intermediate experience are designated by a blue square, and difficult slopes are marked with a black diamond. Some skiers are skilled (and brave) enough to try a double or triple black diamond. The most difficult ski slopes are marked with a yellow exclamation point.
A Colorado Mountain vacation can be the adventure of a lifetime. Aside from all of the breathtaking outdoor activities, visitors can also make the short drive to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver to catch a concert, or go to the annual Telluride Film Festival. Vacationers on a budget can find lodgings and activities that will fit within their price range, too.

<P class="" articletext?>Article Source : http://www.articledashboard.com

Rocky Mountain Vacation provides detailed information on Mountain Vacation, Rocky Mountain Vacation, Colorado Mountain Vacation, North Carolina Mountain Vacation and more. In Steamboat Springs , Colorado, restaurants offer a variety of freshly prepared, expertly cooked, quality foods that rival the restaurants in any major city. The city has more than 70 restaurants and bars and because of the western flair it's a great place to sample elk, buffalo or Rocky Mountain oysters if that's something you've always wanted to do. But don't feel that mountain/western fare is all that's available. Within a short walk from the center of town you'll find Italian, Mexican, French, Japanese, Pacific Rim and other eclectic cuisine.
For delicious family fare in a casual, friendly atmosphere try Mazzola's.
